Platform development

When a website isn't enough, we build the platform

Learning platforms, client portals, booking systems and dashboards. Built around how your business actually works, and the people who use it every day.

What it is

How we approach Platform Development

Some businesses need more than pages. They need people to log in, book, learn, upload, track or manage something. That's a platform, and it's a different job to a website. We've built a teaching platform used by Irish secondary schools, a digital onboarding platform for a regulated financial advice firm and a booking portal for an airport shuttle service. Each one started the same way: understanding the people who'd use it, and the process it had to replace. We design the journeys, build the platform, connect it to the tools you already use, and stay on to support it as it grows. The same team stays with you from the first workshop to launch and beyond.

Website or platform?

Do you need a website or a platform?

A quick way to tell the difference. Plenty of businesses need both, and we build both.

WebsitePlatform
Its job Tell people who you are and bring in enquiries or salesLet people do something: learn, book, apply, track or manage
Who uses it Visitors, mostly once or twiceLogged-in users, often every day or every week
What's inside Pages, content, forms and maybe a shopAccounts, roles, data, workflows and admin tools
Connected to Analytics, your CRM and emailYour CRM, payments, email, SMS and other business systems
Examples A service business site, a brochure site, an online shopA learning platform, a client portal, a booking engine, a dashboard

Not sure which you need? Come in and talk us through the project. We'll work it out together.

What we build

Platforms we've built

Every platform is different, but most are built from the same building blocks.

  • Learning platforms

Courses, lessons and resources behind a login, with access controlled by school, class or year group. Like the Let's Talk SPHE teaching platform.

  • Client portals and onboarding

Digital fact-finds, document uploads and secure client areas that replace paper and email. Like the Moneycube onboarding platform.

  • Booking systems

Online bookings, corporate accounts and job management for service businesses. Like the Dublin Shuttles booking portal.

  • Member hubs

Sign-up, approvals, resource libraries and reporting for organisations with a community of members, teachers or partners to serve.

  • Admin tools and dashboards

The behind-the-scenes tools your team needs: approvals, user management, reports and exports, built for how you work.

  • Integrations

Connected to the systems you already use, like ActiveCampaign and other CRMs, email, SMS, video, payments and booking tools.

How we work

The process

  1. 01

    Discovery

Workshops with your team and the people who'll use the platform. We map the process it's replacing and where it needs to go.

  2. 02

    Scope and specification

A clear written scope: every user type, every feature and how we'll know it works. Nothing gets built until you've signed it off.

  3. 03

    Design and build

Journeys and screens designed first, then built in phases. You see progress on a working preview, not a slideshow.

  4. 04

    Launch and grow

Testing, training and launch. Then we stay on to support it and build the next phase as your needs grow.

FAQ

Platform Development questions

  • How do we know if we need a platform?

If people need to log in, book, apply, upload, track or manage something, you probably need a platform. If they mostly need to find out about you and get in touch, a website will do. Plenty of businesses need both, and we build both.

  • How long does a platform take to build?

It depends on the scope. A focused first version can go live in a couple of months. Bigger platforms are usually built in phases, so you get something working early and add to it. We'll give you a clear timeline once we've scoped it together.

  • How do you price it?

Against a written scope and functional specification. Every feature is agreed upfront, so you know what you're getting, and any changes later are priced against that same baseline. No surprises.

  • Can it connect to our existing systems?

Usually, yes. We've connected platforms to CRMs like ActiveCampaign, email and SMS tools, video hosting, booking tools and more. We'll check your systems during discovery.

  • What about security and data protection?

We build with roles and permissions from the start, so people only see what they should. Data is hosted in the EU where possible, and for regulated businesses we design around record-keeping requirements like versioned terms and audit trails.

  • Who owns the platform?

You do. The code, the data and the accounts are yours. We're happy to keep supporting and developing it, but you're never locked in.
